The sequel is not a book that's amenable to being written by hand. I largely wrote the first book by hand, but that was by choice. Back then (1999) I worked from home as the office manager of a computer networking company. I would work overtime Monday through Thursday, putting in about 50 hrs, and then take Friday off to write. I always went to Ranchos Coffee Co. for the day, to get away from the distractions of phone and email, and I wrote by hand in notebooks (at that stage I was a long way off from owning a laptop). Friday evening or Saturday I would type what I'd written that week

The first book
into the computer, and then add it to the manuscript layout. I didn't enjoy the chore of typing the manuscript from a handwritten draft, but it didn't seem to slow me down much. The book took four months to write by hand.
